Press Release | Law Firm Jinheon Launches Financial Regulatory Response Center
Law Firm Jinheon (Managing Partner Minyoung Shin) announced on April 2 that it has officially launched its Financial Regulatory Response Center in response to the sweeping overhaul of the investigation and enforcement framework for unfair trading practices in the capital markets by financial authorities.
The newly established Center is designed to proactively address rapid changes in the financial regulatory environment, including the upcoming implementation of the Regulations on the Duties of Special Judicial Police for Capital Markets. In particular, special judicial police officers for capital markets under the Financial Supervisory Service will be able to initiate investigations upon deliberation by an internal review committee, without prior referral from the Securities and Futures Commission or direction from prosecutors. Coupled with the anticipated restructuring of investigative authorities in October, the importance of corporate legal risk management is expected to increase significantly.
Law Firm Jinheon plans to provide comprehensive, one-stop legal services covering the entire process, including responses to Financial Supervisory Service investigations, representations before investigative review committees, and responses to search and seizure as well as criminal investigations conducted by special judicial police.
The Center is composed of specialized teams focusing on regulatory investigations, prosecutorial and law enforcement matters, digital forensics, and listing and disclosure risk management. Leveraging the deep expertise of its professionals in regulatory and investigative processes, the Center will deliver a consistent and systematic response strategy—from evidence preservation and forensic analysis to the preparation of legal defenses and explanatory materials.
Najin Choi (13th Bar Exam), Head of the Financial Regulatory Response Center, stated, “As special judicial police under the Financial Supervisory Service gain authority to initiate investigations, the boundary between regulatory inquiries and criminal investigations in the capital markets is becoming increasingly blurred, and the intensity of compulsory measures such as search and seizure is expected to rise significantly.” She added, “Law Firm Jinheon’s Financial Regulatory Response Center will provide swift and highly specialized early-stage responses based on a precise understanding of regulatory developments, in order to protect our clients’ rights and interests.”
